See why boxing is the fastest growing fitness regimen

If you think it's just a sport for the rough and tough, you're wrong! Boxing is now one of the most popular fitness regimens out there and if it's a lean, toned, strong body you're after then this could the sport for you.

What's it all about?

Scrap any ideas you have about beating a punching bag by yourself, boxing is very much a social sport. Classes are usually made up of around 10 to 15 people and supervised by a licensed experienced professional. You will concentrate on proper boxing techniques, footwork, body alignment and building stamina.

What can I expect at a class?

This class is designed to teach beginners and intermediates the fundamentals of Boxing. You will be put through the same pace as Elite Fighters. This is more than a's a program. Members will learn all the basic techniques and applications geared towards making them a student of the game. This includes but not limited to: Conditioning, Floor work, Bag work, and Partner drills. People with a little more experience may also spar. Sparring is optional but a lot of fun. Boxing is a high intensity, full body workout that will keep you moving throughout the workout. When you're not throwing a punch, you're ducking and weaving or doing squats and abdominal work.

What benefits will I see?

Weight loss, self confidence, increased agility and coordination, muscle tone and greater fitness. Boxing is a cardio work-out for the entire body. You will tone your bottom and quadriceps muscles— perfect for women who want to lose weight around their bottom and thighs as part of an overall reduction program.

Devon Hill (C-Foo): boxing instructor

I started as an amateur fighter from 1990 until 2005. I have consistently trained clients since 2000. I have worked for various fitness clubs, such as Bally’s Total Fitness, Punch Gym (Muay Thai), International Boxing Fitness, The Rock Fitness, The Coliseum, among others. I conduct group classes for women, as well as personal training for men, women and inner city kids, based on their fitness goals and capabilities.

After witnessing poor coaching and a lack of dedication from coaches, I decided to become “the change I wanted to see.” I became a well-rounded, full-time coach/fitness trainer for people from all walks of life. Boxing is more than a fight sport, it is a lifestyle change for confidence, weight management, discipline and skills.

All fitness plans are build upon a person’s individual goals, capacities and commitment.

My achievements:

Highly respected in the boxing community, I have been called upon for sparring work with known professional boxers, such as Monty Barrett, Kevin McBride, Ehino “Hollywood” Ehikhamenor, Levaun Eisley, and more.

I trained a young fighter, Devaun Lee, 178 lbs, Novice Class, Silver Medalist in the Golden Gloves in 2009, who later advanced to fight for the US National team. Ranked #6 in the Country within a two year period.

Was appointed “NY Olympic Boxing Head Coach” by the Local Boxing Commission (LBC) to train the New York Olympic team, to compete in US Nationals in Colorado (2010)

Was appointed “International Head Coach” by the Local Boxing Commission (LBC) to train the New York Olympic team to compete in Dominican Republic against Aruba, Ecuador, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic & Venezuela (2010)

Was appointed “Head Coach” for NY Boxing Metro at the Regional Tournament in Lake Placid, later advanced to compete in the US Nationals (2010)
